Meals Eaten Calculator
Count the meals behind you, the ones still ahead, and how much of your life you have spent sitting at the table.
About You

Frequently Asked Questions
- How many meals does a person eat in a lifetime?
- At three meals a day, someone who lives to 80 eats roughly 87,700 meals. The figure moves a lot with how you count: adding a single snack a day as a fourth meal pushes the lifetime total past 116,000.
- How many meals have I eaten so far?
- Multiply your age by 365.25 to get the days you have lived, then multiply by the meals you eat each day. At 35 years old eating three a day that comes to about 38,350 meals.
- Does this count meals eaten as a baby?
- It counts from birth at whatever daily rate you enter, which is a simplification. Infants feed far more often than three times a day, while toddlers and small children eat smaller meals. Across a whole life those early years are a rounding error, but if you want a stricter figure, enter the years since you started eating adult meals instead of your full age.
- How much of your life do you spend eating?
- At three meals a day of 30 minutes each, you spend an hour and a half a day at the table, which is just over two years by age 35 and around five years across an 80 year life. That counts time eating only, not shopping, cooking or cleaning up, which together take considerably longer.
- Why use 365.25 days for a year?
- It accounts for leap years. A calendar year is 365 days three times out of four and 366 on the fourth, which averages to 365.25. Over a lifetime the difference is around 20 extra days, worth about 60 meals at three a day.
